Learn by Doing - Own the Skills and Knowledge

Dr. Michael Lehan has worked in the public and private sectors and has taught managers and engineers for 18 years. Dr. Lehan believes that we learn best by doing, by experiencing problem solving techniques, simulating financial decision-making scenarios and testing our solutions with peers. Financial Frameworks’ podcasts and blogs present problems and questions along with fundamental concepts and tools for you to test and adapt to how you work and think. At the end of each Financial Frameworks session you should know more and be able to do more than before the session.

The managers, line workers and students Dr. Lehan taught found learning things they could use immediately was exciting and interesting. That same excitement is the goal here.

Learning by Doing - when done correctly - is the best way to incorporate new knowledge and make it a habit. It becomes part of you. It also reduces the fear of being wrong, which is often present when learning new things, especially something important like how to manage money. Additionally, Dr. Lehan’s approach to finance is applied, practical and streamlined, while focusing on fundamentals.

Each podcast presents concepts, current financial realities and questions and problems for the listener to consider and frame and apply to their situation and way of learning.

The emphasis is on learning that each listener can use, particularly in the areas of value investing, ESG education and personal finance and budgeting.

Each podcast always contains resources for further information and insights for listeners to explore as their interest is piqued.

The podcasts presented on this website have been created to make you more capable in planning and making your financial and personal choices.

The emphasis is on using solid concepts that you can apply and use immediately to build a framework for making all types of choices and to separate the signals from the noise in this information filled world of ours.

The content and exercises are based on years working in the financial services industry, managing my own business and teaching adults - mostly engineers and emergency managers - about finance and planning. Teaching individuals with significant responsibilities who are focused and eager is both exciting and rewarding. The intent here is for you to have that same experience - excitement and tools that you will use.
